About J.B.

J.B. Russell was born in Long Beach, California and grew up in Princeton, New Jersey. After completing a degree in Geology/Geography and working as a geologist in Boulder, Colorado, he left for Europe with a camera to follow a serious wanderlust and has never looked back.

His photojournalistic work focuses on current events and the human consequences of conflict and social upheaval. His photos appear regularly in magazines, newspapers, on the Internet and in books worldwide. His photos have been featured and exhibited at Visa Pour L'image, the international festival of photojournalism in Perpignan, France. His work has also received several honors and awards including the Public Prize at France's Bayeux War Correspondant's Competition and 1st Place in the News Picture Story category of the Pictures of the Year competition. J.B. Russell's work is represented by the Panos, Cosmos, Grazia Neri and Cover News Agencies. He lives in Paris.
